The Talking Stick Resort in Scottsdale is currently closed thanks to the Aug. 11 storm that knocked out the power. The casino plans to reopen this upcoming weekend, assuming the clean-up goes as planned. Out of the 553 entries on day 1a on Friday, just 90 people had survived for day 2.
The $1,100 buy-in event drew nearly 1,700 players in 2017 and awarded a first-place prize of $265,706. A similar turnout was expected this summer.
